Hoboken voters reject rent control referendum in landslide

Hoboken voters were asked if they‘d like to change the rent control regulations in the city Tuesday and the answer was a resounding “no.”
An amendment to the regulations that would have given landlords the ability to raise rent on a vacant apartment to any rate in exchange for a $2,500 contribution to the city’s Affordable Housing Trust Fund received just 26.5% of first 14,886 ballots cast.
